In the last installment of Getting to Know Velsoft, we introduced our summer students, who sadly, are spending their last day at the office today. This week we hope you learn something you didn’t know before about two employees in the sales department. Keep in mind that the sales team has an obsession with the HBO series Game of Thrones!

Dave Gormley

Dave has worked at Velsoft Training Materials for almost 11 years. Before becoming a sales account manager here, he completed a psychology degree at St. Francis Xavier University, and worked as a restaurant general manager and a baseball field liner.

Dave’s job entails sales, customer support, and training. He also likes to entertain everyone in the office with his bad jokes and his even worse card tricks.

Fun facts about Dave:

  • His favorite TV show is Seinfeld. “It’s a Festivus Miracle!”
  • If money wasn’t a consideration, he would spend the rest of his life visiting golf courses and public houses across the world.
  • If he was able to eat only one food for the rest of his life, he would choose toast with butter and strawberry jam.
  • Something he can’t live without: His children.
  • He says he’s most like the Game of Thrones character Gendry because he’s a quiet, strong leader, he always looks out for the little guy, and he leads by example.

Michael Harding

Michael is the Chief Happiness Officer at Velsoft. This means he tries to keep all of our customers happy through customer support.

A typical day involves doing client demonstrations, solving customer support requests, assisting the sales team when necessary, and providing new customer training on how to use our products.

Before coming to work at Velsoft two and a half years ago, Michael worked as an accounting clerk and he also sold shoes at a sporting goods store. He studied accounting at the Nova Scotia Community College.

Fun facts about Michael:

  • If he was stranded on a desert island, the three things he would take with him are books, music and a journal.
  • If money wasn’t a consideration, he would spend the rest of his life investing in businesses, trying new apps or ecommerce, and having fun travelling.
  • His favorite TV show is Breaking Bad.
  • He says he’s most like Podrick of Game of Thrones because he’s loyal to a fault, not much of a fighter, and isn’t one to kiss and tell!
  • Things he can’t live without: His family and music.
