Weekly Update for January 13

Rachael crossed her arms and glared at the others.

“I just don’t think you guys understand. Learning Technologies 2017 is one of the most prestigious learning shows in the world, and we need to make a great impression. I’m asking for elements that we can include in our booth to make it stand out. How about some more suggestions? Serious ones this time. Jim, you go first.”

“Well, I was thinking,” Jim said. “How about a holodeck like on Star Trek. We can bring the customers in and put them through a course or znanja in virtual reality.”

“Okay,” said Rachael, “how would we create that?”

“Isn’t it obvious? We’d use the replicator, just like on Star Trek.”

“Next,” said Rachel.

“One word,” said Ian Taylor. “Apple.”

“Next. Dave?”

“I’ve given this a lot of thought. I say we should include a combination deep fryer-batting cage-fish tank. It will be a hit! Ha!”

“How about you, the other Ian,” Rachael asked with an edge of hopelessness creeping into her voice.

“Anything ain’t nothing without karaoke!” Ian Kennedy sang at the top of his lungs.

Mark was quietly taking all this in and saw a chance to give his two cents’ worth.

“A lot of business deals are concluded on the golf course,” he began. “With that in mind, I figure we should move our entire booth to the nearest golf course and make things happen there.”

At that point Dave piped up with another ‘suggestion’.

“We are a Canadian company, and what’s more Canadian than eating donuts? I think that if I swing by Tim’s and pick up a box of donuts each day on my way to the tradeshow we can put them out and lure customers. Right?”

Rachael heaved a sigh that seemed like it was never going to end. “You know Dave, this tradeshow is in London. London, England. The donuts might be a bit stale on your commute from New Glasgow across the Atlantic. Back to the drawing board.”
